Description
Unless one ./configure's xapian-core 1.2.12 with both --enable-backend-flint and --enable-backend-remote, the build fails. The downstream bug can be found at

And to #361. Having a separate ticket for each case which doesn't work probably isn't useful - the number of combinations is rather large.
I still think the best short term fix is just to stop exposing these in the gentoo ebuild.

...and #574, which rather is a duplicate albeit filed earlier.
On another note, gentoo does not expose --{enable,disable}-backend-flint anymore.
